Bobby Doyne Ward

of Clinton, AR

October 8, 1935 - December 22, 2017

Bobby Doyne Ward, 82, Clinton, went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 22, 2017 in his home. Bobby was born October 8, 1935 in Shirley, Arkansas to Herman and Pearl Ward.

Bobby was a graduate of Shirley High School. He also attended Oakland City College in Indiana and the University of Central Arkansas receiving his BSE. Bobby taught at Shirley Public Schools for thirty years, where he also coached basketball. One of many highlights of his career was a runner-up junior high boys state championship in 1973. Bobby credited his training to become a teacher for preparing him for the ministry.

He was ordained by Post Oak Grove Presbytery in 1958. He pastored his early years at Bethlehem Fox and at Shirley (Bethel). Later returning to Bethlehem Fox where he's pastored for 42 years, total of 60 years spreading God's word. He surmised that pastoring was where he could do his best work. He liked people and he like being there for them in times of joy and times of trouble. He was always visiting the sick, those that were mourning, and those who needed comforting words. He conducted countless funerals as well as weddings in both Van Buren and Stone County. His children often joked he married everyone in the county. The hardest part of his ministry was some of the funerals he conducted and the most enjoyable was the fellowship with God's people. He claimed scripture Isaiah 61:1 as his own, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken hearted to proclaim liberty to the captives..."

He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Ward, mother Pearl Ward, and brother Hubert Ward.

He is survived by his wife and longtime help- mate of 56 years, Shirlene (Harness) Ward, three children and their spouses; Toby and Robin Ward of Shirley, Rick and Melissa Ward of Fairfield Bay, and Chris Ward of Bee Branch, five grandchildren; Cassie Lopez, Devon Hensley, and Cory, Lane, and Chandler Ward, and three great grandchildren; Kami, Emmylou, and Milo.

Arrangements are entrusted to Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton, Arkansas. For online guestbook, www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/clinton

Shirlene Toby,Rickey Chris and all your familes. So sorry for your loss it is a loss for everyone who knew Bobby. He was the one who was always there for many families in their time of need.He was always smiling and he sure liked his Hershey Bars.We at school tried to get him off track so as not to have so much homework(especially Math) so we wood bring him fruit and Hershey's and tell him we had a surprise for him. He went right along with us.knowing all time what we were doing. He was a friend and Mentor to all of us who had the privilege to be in his classroom,or on the court playing ball. He will surely be missed!

Dear Shirlene, Toby, Rick, & Chris & Family,
We Love you guys so much and wish we could be there with the family to celebrate the life of a wonderful cousin, husband, father, coach, pastor and so much more. Bobby was loved by all who knew him and will be missed even more. I always felt so close to my Aunt Pearl and Uncle Herman when Bobby and I were together because he shared so many of their wonderful kind and loving ways. I recall many fond memories growing up visiting the Ward family thru the years. I bet Uncle Herm & Bobby already found the best fishing holes in Heaven. Much Love & Sympathy,

Bobby was always there for others. The world is full of those whom are always looking in the mirror to serve, but I never witnessed Bobby doing or saying anything out of selfishness.

He was a strong man and always represented God as perfect as one can do. I am homered to be related to Bobby and to have had the pleasure of having him lead the burial of many in our family.

Brother Bobby will surly be missed by his family, church family and many, many friends. As a friend and member of his church family here at fox I know how unselfish he was. He was always concerned about everybody else and not himself. It hurt to here of his passing but I am relieved that he didn't have to suffer. As he preached on Sunday mornings he would often speak about missing his brother. I know there will be a Glad Reunion Day.

A great loss for the community of Shirley. I had known Bobby since I was a small child. He was always kind and willing to give his time, even to a small child, to help anyway he could. When my mother was ill, he would sit with, talk with her and read passages from the Bible. A very kind, caring and gentle person and a great loss for all who knew him.
