Leslie Howard Sutterfield, 90, of Mountain View died March 16, 2011 at his home. He was born April 4, 1920 to Walter Edwin Sutterfield and Bertha Mae Farris Sutterfield. He married Alta Rae Massey on Jan. 23, 1942.
He made his decision to accept Christ at a Brush Arbor Revival preached by Jess Rose on Long Creek near Landis. He was baptized in Long Creek.
He was a master gardener, a decorated World War II veteran, a lifetime member of the VFW, a member of the First Baptist Church of Mountain View, and a barber for more than 60 years.
Survivors include his son, Dwight Sutterfield and his wife Elaine of Timbo, AR; a daughter Judy Harvey of Tacoma, Washington; two sisters, Martha Marie Massey and Jessie Mae Mariott and husband Kenneth all of Springdale, AR; five grandchildren: Beth, Deanna, Leslie Jo, James and Ian; seven great-grandchildren: Kimber, Kristen, Emilee, Elijah, Isaac, Jed, and John Sutter; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and three brothers; Carl, Ferrell and Dorsey.
The funeral service was Monday, March 21, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Mountain View with Ray Brown and Douglas Stewart officiating. Burial was in Levisy Flat Cemetery under the direction of Roller Crouch Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Mark, Jay and Ian Sutterfield, Eddie Massey, Dwayne and Chris Mariott, James Harvey and Matthew Shafer.
Honorary pallbearers were Clois and Lola Mae Richardson, Paul J. and Faunette Crymes, Floyd and Jerri Helums, Jeff and Carolyn Carter, Bobby Sutterfield Shock and Roy Hodges.
