Billy Wayne Caplener

August 27, 1928 - January 18, 2018

Billy Wayne Caplener passed away Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, at his home in Pleasant Plains, Arkansas.
He was born on Aug. 27, 1928, to the late Otto (Pete) Caplener and Ruby Pearson Caplener.
His wife, Dorothy Mae Tackett Caplener; his parents; sister, Kathyrn Caplener Owens; and brother, Glen Caplener, precede him in death.
He is survived by two sons, Darrell (Susan) Caplener of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Stacey (Debra) Caplener of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Adam Caplener of Pleasant Plains and Catherine Caplener of Austin, Texas.
Billy grew up on his family farm and continued farming throughout his life. He enjoyed raising cattle and chickens and gardening. His hobbies included riding ATVs, reading the Batesville Guard newspaper and attending socials with his church family.
He was a member of the Pleasant Plains United Methodist Church, served as a city councilman for 40 years and was a volunteer fire department member.
The pallbearers are Adam Caplener, James Grider, Sherwin Meharg, Nickey Pearson, Robert Beel and Bob Davis.
Honorary pallbearers are Pleasant Plains City Council members Ken Burns, Ron York, David Foster, Connie Blevins and Mary Ann Stracener.
Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, from noon to 2 p.m. at Pleasant Plains United Methodist Church. Services will begin immediately afterwards with Bill Mills officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Plains Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Pleasant Plains United Methodist Church.
