Dorothy Fern Wade of Henderson, Tennessee, died April, 22, 2018, in Henderson at the age of 101. She was born September 10, 1916, in Lead Hill, Arkansas, the fourth of seven children of John Wesley and Lula Bell Austin. A graduate of Wonderview High School, she married Claude Melton Wade of Yellville, and they made their home in the Georges Creek community in Marion County. Dorothy was a devoted farm wife and an active member of the Cedar Grove Methodist Church. She loved her community and enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, and teaching Sunday school. Many will miss her ready wit, sympathetic shoulder, and helping hands.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Melton Wade; her sons, Kenneth Claude and Keith Michael Wade; her parents; her sisters, Eslie Sommers, Hazel Young, and Avo Chappelle; her brothers, Leonard Austin, Lester Austin, and William Austin.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Dianne Aleice Wade of Henderson, TN; her grandson, Kenneth Lynn Wade and his wife, Gina of Huron, Tennessee, and their two sons, Charles Michael and Henry David Wade; her granddaughter, Suzanne Heather Brandon and her husband, Samuel of North Little Rock, Arkansas, and their son, Alexander Nikola Brandon. Also surviving are two cousins, Mary Ann Gaines of Lead Hill, Arkansas, and Jim Fain of Grannis, Arkansas, and many of her nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Roller-Burns Funeral Home in Yellville on April 30, 2018. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 and the service will be at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Kem Reeder officiating. Burial will be at the Georges Creek Cemetery in the Wade family plot.

Memorials may be made to Cedar Grove Church or the charity of your choice.

I got to know Miss Dorothy over the past few years in my visits to Southern Oaks Assisted Living n Henderson, TN. She was so kind and really loved her family, who she spoke of often. I'll keep those memories near.
