Dorothy "Dot" Morris Sandroni

of Marion, AR

April 17, 1928 - April 25, 2017

Dorothy Morris Sandroni, 89, of Marion, Arkansas went to be with her Lord April 25, 2017 surrounded by her family. Dot was born to the late Ester Chamblee and O.B. Smith, Sr. and was the eldest of 5 children. She grew up in Hughes, Arkansas and graduated from Hughes High School and attended Arkansas State Teacher's College in Conway, Arkansas.
She lived her life caring for her family and serving her community. When she wasn't tending to matters of the home, she enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, participating in Garden Club, teaching Sunday School, and watching sporting events, specifically the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Atlanta Braves. She was also a fantastic cook and expressed her love to friends, family and even strangers by preparing different dishes from her own stash of recipes. Many requested her famous chicken and dumplings and chocolate chip cookies.
Dot was preceded in death by her first love, Charles Hollis Morris, whom she shared her life with for 24 years in Hughes, Arkansas; then by her second love, Melio Sandroni, with whom she enjoyed 35 years in Shaw, Mississippi. Dot felt truly blessed to have had two wonderful husbands. Brother, O.B. Smith of Atlanta, GA; sister, Faye Smith (L.C.) Grissom of Memphis, TN; and brother-in- law, Warren Meyer of Memphis, TN have also preceded her in death.
Dot is survived by her only child, Holly (Jim) Marotti of Marion, AR; two grandchildren: Chamblee (Heath) Witherspoon and Brooke (Brett) Burris all of Jonesboro, AR; three great grandchildren: Hollice Witherspoon, Bentley and Bryant Burris; one brother, James (Carolyn) Smith of Tupelo, MS; one sister, Callie Smith Meyer of Memphis, TN and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The Celebration of Dot's life will be held at Roller Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis, Arkansas on Friday, April 28, 2017 with Visitation at 10:00 a.m. and Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, Arkansas. The Family asked that Donations be sent to the Melio Sandroni Endowed Scholarship, MSU Foundation, P.O. Box 9760 Mississippi State, MS 39762 or Memorials be sent to the Shaw Baptist Church, P.O. Box 495, Shaw, MS 38773.

Holly and family was so sorry to hear about Ms. Sandroni. When I used to drive her, she always talked so affectionately about her family. She was such a sweetheart! I am so glad to have known her. You're in my thoughts and prayers.
