of Omaha, AZ
July 24, 1928 - March 18, 2018
Inez Riddle, age 89, of Omaha, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Cox Medical Center, Branson, Missouri. Inez was born July 24, 1928, at Dupree, South Dakota, the daughter of John and Ethel (Goins) Retz. Along with her parents, Inez was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Retz.
Inez was a strong woman who overcame many hardships. She came to Arkansas from Dupree, South Dakota with her family in a mule drawn wagon when she was 3 years old. She attended school at Ridgeway and Alpena through the 8th grade. Almost 40 years later she earned her GED, an accomplishment she was very proud of. Inez raised her family while working on the farm, taking care of cattle, chickens and raising big gardens. She later worked as a cook at the Omaha School and Bowen's Restaurant; Cicero Bible Press and at Levi Straus where she made many friends.
Inez loved her flowers, feeding her birds, scratching lottery tickets, shopping, going to garage sales, going to Cherokee Casino, chocolate lover's festivals and just going. But her greatest joy was the birth of her grandson, K.C. "Biggen", who was "Mam Mam's boy'' and she loved him fiercely. She took him to school and attended all of his activities. After he moved to Springdale, Arkansas, he would call her every day without fail. It was the highlight of her day and kept her going. We were very blessed to have her and learned many valuable lessons from her during her almost 90 years. We loved her smile, infectious laugh, and her sense of humor and we miss her deeply.
Inez is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Polly Ann and Kevin Pearson; her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Judy Riddle; a very close grandson, Kevin Carlos (Lindsey Pettit) Pearson; and a sister, Frances Davis. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; her nieces, Arilla Reel and Donna Casey; her great-nieces, Patty Conzemius, Cindy Akins, and Nancy Duggan; and her special friends, Willodean Cheek and Louise Roberts.
Visitation was 5:00PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, March 23, 2018, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
