Wanda Lee Harris

of Yellville, AR

February 1, 1935 - March 18, 2018

Wanda Lee (Erwin) Harris, age 83, of Eros, Arkansas, went to her Lord Sunday, March 18, 2018, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Harrison February 1, 1935, and died at home peacefully surrounded by her five children. Wanda grew up in Harrison, the daughter of Everett Lee Erwin and Ruby Alma (Hand) Erwin, and later her step-father, Jim Campbell.

Wanda graduated from Harrison High School in 1953 and married her love, Howard Harris, the next year. She helped Howard haul milk early in their marriage and raised their children to fear God. As the children grew up, Wanda started working full time at Baxter Lab, where she worked for 30 years. She lived in Harrison, Bruno and Eros her entire life. She loved the family farm, and enjoyed her wonderful neighbors and a host of friends all of her life.

Wanda grew up faithfully attending First Assembly of God Church in Harrison with her parents. As a teenager she was an accomplished pianist and organist playing for the church congregation. Upon moving to the country when she wed, she faithfully attended Bruno Baptist Church where she reared her five children. Wanda always loved music and in her final days when she might not have remembered much, she always knew the words to the old hymns she played for church. Wanda loved listening to George Strait and anything by Elvis. She loved sports, particularly the Razorbacks and anything football and all things basketball. She traveled hundreds of miles a year to watch her grandchildren participate in sports and perform theater in Oklahoma, Arkansas, South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi and anywhere in between. She was known in elementary schools, high schools and even at Blue Mountain College for saying ''free throws win the game.''

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years; and her father, mother and step-father. She is survived by all of their children, Steven Howard Harris (Enid, OK), Vicki Lynn Harris Wyatt (Edmond, OK), Cheryl Ann Green (Mt. Home, AR), Cynthia Marie Akins (Greenville, SC) and Brian Douglas Harris (Edmond, OK). She had nine grandchildren who brought her much joy: Lauren, Katie, Corbin, Andrew (Akins), Steffanie, Caleb, Isaac, Kobie and Landry. She treated her in-laws, Pat Green, Sherry Harris, Brenda Harris, Tom Akins and Bob Wyatt, like her own. Wanda was loved by all who knew her and will be missed until all are reunited with her in Heaven.

The family hosted a visitation Thursday, March 22, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

A celebration of Wanda's life was Friday, March 23, 2018, at 2:00 PM, Roller-Christeson Funeral Home in Harrison.

Interment followed in Bruno Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Wanda's grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers were J.D. and Judy Erwin, Shirley Blankenship, Johnny Harris, Joe Swafford, Gayla Rorie, Lucy Monger and Helen Speer.

The flower shop of family choice is Harrison Flower Shop on the downtown Harrison square. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Bruno Cemetery, c/o Joanne King, 6604 Hwy. 125 S, Yellville, AR 72687

So sorry for your loss may you find peace and comfort in the words spoken at 2 Corinthians 1:3 & 4" Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God

Steve, You may not remember me but I heard of your mother's death today from my daughter Lisa Offenbacker. Please know that I will be praying for you and your whole family during this difficult time.
You've been in our home many times when you were in college (or was it seminary?). My husband Lonnie went to be with Jesus in 2009.
I would love to see you and meet your family if you are ever in my area again. With love from Joyce McKinney - 501-939-2273

Wanda will be missed but let us be joyful knowing that she is now with Jesus. I have precious memories of Wanda and Howard and their beautiful family. As the song says, “ If you could see where I am now, you wouldn’t cry.”

Brian I am so sorry to hear about your mom.
Psalm 116:15 says it best. "Precious in the site of the Lord is the death of His saints". I know she is rejoicing with our Lord.
Love you, Carolyn
