Doma Armenda Biggs

of Bellefonte, AR

November 16, 1916 - December 17, 2017

Doma Armenda "Nanaw" (Ellis) Biggs, age 101, of Bellefonte, Arkansas, passed away peacefully Sunday December 17, 2017, at Hillcrest Home surrounded by her family. She was born November 16, 1916, at home in Bellefonte, the daughter of Arthur Vinson and Minnie (Woodruff) Ellis. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dennis Cargile (Shockfodder) Biggs; her children, Charles Houston Biggs, Gary Wayne Biggs, and Helen Jane Biggs; and her brothers, Garland Ellis, Melvin Ellis, and Arthur Ellis.

Doma was a member of Bellefonte United Methodist Church and an over 50 year member of the Eastern Star. Armenda was a lifelong resident of the community. For a brief time she lived in Summerville, California with her husband where she worked in the kitchen at the hospital there. They then returned home to Arkansas where she worked in the County Clerk's office for a number of years before becoming ''Nanaw'' to hundreds of children in the community. If you heard the name ''Nanaw'', you knew you were going to be fed, spoiled, and loved beyond measure. Doma loved her family, babies, friends and the J.U.G. Club. When she wasn't loving on a baby, you would find her cooking, in her flower garden, or picking up walnuts.

Doma is survived by her grandchildren and their spouses, Larry and Cretia Biggs and their children Taylor and Sadie; Tonya and John Cowan and their children, DaMayla and Riley; Claudia and Arnold Wilson and son Gene Daniels; Dennis Biggs and his children Logan and Chasiti; and Jennifer and Josh Graddy and their children Spencer, Trevor, McKenna and Gretta. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Visitation was Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

Funeral was Thursday, December 21, 2017, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home with Bro. David Shekels and Bro. Woody Daniels officiating.

Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Larry Biggs, John Cowan, Taylor Biggs, Riley Cowan, Mike Conway, Gearld Taylor and Dr. Geoffrey Dunaway.

Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Hillcrest Home who have helped so much and loved her like their own.

Dear Armenda's Family,
Armenda has been my friend all my life. She and Shock were the closest friends to my parents, Eulan and Pauline Moore. Armenda worked with my mother at the Court House when Daddy was off to war. Then, when he returned, Shock helped Dad build our house, which is just up from the Dollar General downtown. We used to go to Shock and Armenda's so many times....when their kids were little. She was always the sweetest lady with such a kind face. The last time I visited with her was in WalMart and she told me she was still keeping children at that time. Then I "lost" touch with her....and I didn't know who to contact. As I was growing up, it was always "Armenda and Shockfodder". I have such fun memories of them, and she was always smiling when I'd see her.
I know you will miss her but she leaves many good memories and children who will always treasure her keeping them.
My prayers to all of you...
