of West Memphis, AR
December 31, 1915 - January 8, 2018
Frank Lee Vaught, 102, of West Memphis, Arkansas, passed away on January 8, 2018, at the Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born on December 31, 1915, in Meridian, Mississippi, to the late Joe and Mattie Vaught.
Affectionately known as ''shorty,'' he had to have all of his clothes altered to fit his small frame. He could not understand why they did not make clothes to fit small men of his size. He enjoyed working in his yard and took great pride in its upkeep. As a boy, he lost one of his eyes in an accident involving a beebe gun. Years later, he suffered from a mini stroke and gradually lost sight in his other eye, affecting his ability to do many everyday tasks such as walking, driving, and working in his yard. With a determined outlook and independent spirit, he managed to do all he could for himself through his early nineties when he moved to Willowbend at Marion. Some remember pulling in his driveway to see him cleaning leaves off of his roof. Although it was difficult for him to depend on others, he learned to do so and there were several people who helped him in his times of need.
Retired from the Federal Barge Line, he spent over two decades traveling the Mississippi River. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and received a 50-year pin on his 101st birthday. He also loved attending Cornerstone Baptist Church in West Memphis, where he was a member.
As is common with many who reach his age, he was preceded in death by a number of family members and friends. He also leaves behind a host of family members and friends who loved him dearly.
In lieu of flowers send donations to Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held 1:00-2:00 PM, Monday, January 15, 2018 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis with the funeral following at 2:00 PM. Interment will be at Crittenden Memorial Park.

I'm so sorry to hear of Frank’s passing. Loosing a loved one is never easy. I lost my dad in 2010, and my mom in 2012. After my losses, reading Revelation 21:3,4 gave me real comfort. It says: And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. I hope reading these verses also give you comfort during this difficult time. GW
R.I.P. Grandaddy Love you and will miss you very much.
Sending my deepest sympathy to the family & keeping you all in my prayers.
