Doris Geraldine Smithson (Jones), aka ''Old Grandma'', resided in Bald Knob for the past 22 years, previously of Marsena, Arkansas passed away December 19, 2017 at her home. She was 86. She was born June 27, 1931 in Snowball, Arkansas. She is preceded in death by her husband Omage John Smithson (passed away in 1995), father Doyle Jones, mother Mary A. Gilliam Jones-Morris, one son Eddie Lee Smithson, brothers Conroe and Joe, sister Christine. She is survived by her three children, Richard Doyle (Judy), Omage Larry (Betty) and daughter Mary Susan Le Buhn (Michael, Sr.); grandchildren, Ricky Dale Smithson (Tammy), Steven Smithson (Jennifer), Philip Smithson (Debbie,), Rebecca West (Randy), Michael Smithson (Theresa), Mark Smithson (Reba), Justin Smithson (Mandy), Lana Lyday, Michael Le Buhn, Jr. (Casey), 24 great grandchildren, 25 great-great grandchildren.
Geraldine was credentialed as a minister in the Church of God on September 1, 1960, served as pastor of the Marshall Church of God and Heber Springs Church of God. She preached her first sermon at Dongola Community Church. Over the 57- year span of her ministry, she preached over 3,000 sermons spanning several states.
Geraldine greatly loved her children, living close to and being regularly engaged in the life of her grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was actively engaged in the weekly activities of her church up to the week of her death, loved worship, organized and, for several years coordinated a community senior adult ministry called ''Nifty Fifty.'' On many occasions, she was asked to visit and pray for those at the end of their life providing them with an opportunity to surrender their life to Jesus Christ. She loved maintaining a beautiful array of flowers in her yard. She adored her dog ''Penny.''

Visitations and services are as follows: Friday 10:00-12:00 Bald Knob Church of God. Service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Reverends Richard and Larry Smithson to officiate. Roller-Daniel Funeral Home, Searcy, Arkansas coordinating. Second visitation Saturday at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home, Marshall, Arkansas 9:00-10:00 with service to follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Dongola Community Cemetery.

She was a wonderful lady. I always enjoyed talking with her. And I always so blessed when she prayed with me. I love her and she will be truly missed.

Heaven is sounding sweeter all the time!

Aunt Geraldine will be missed by us all, but we DO have the assurance we will and can see her again! Until then....we watch and pray for the glorious day!
