Brother Logan David LawrenceI am a Veteran.

of Onia, AR

July 14, 1921 - January 22, 2018

Brother Logan Lawrence, 96, of Onia, Arkansas entered the gates of Heaven Monday, January 22, 2018. He departed this life at Stone County Medical Center while surrounded by his family. Logan was born July 14, 1921 to Myra and John Lawrence of Onia. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ovie; son, Randall and wife Mari Beth Lawrence of Lonoke; daughter, Rhonda and husband Reese Tubbs of Onia; son, Roger Lawrence of Mayflower; granddaughter Kayla, and husband Josh Looney of Onia; grandson, Dillon Lawrence of Onia; granddaughter, Keegan, and husband Justin Sutton of Springdale; granddaughter, Laken, and husband Gavin Jones of Benton; grandson, Logan Lawrence of Little Rock; great granddaughters Madison and Savannah Looney of Onia; brother, Carlos and wife Ethel Mae of Onia; brother, Eugene and wife Jean of Onia; sister, Nona Mae and husband Cleophas Ramsey of Onia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Brother Logan is preceded in death by his parents, John and Myra Lawrence; infant daughter, Shellah Kay Lawrence; brothers Olis and Parnell of Onia; sisters Ora Balentine of Onia, and Wanda Fox, of Yakima, Washington; brothers in law Aaron Balentine, and Uriel Fox; sisters in law Ola and Eudene Lawrence; four siblings: Leland, Loland, Dewey, and Alma that passed during childhood.

Brother Logan was a great Servant of God. He devoted his life to serving God and taking care of his family. He answered the call to preach the gospel at his home one stormy night in the presence of his family. While his brother Parnell was standing in the doorway watching a thunderstorm the metal doorframe was struck by lightening which left Parnell unconscious and presumed dead. Brother Logan had been feeling the Lord deal with him to preach the gospel for sometime. After Parnell lay lifeless for six hours, Brother Logan embraced Parnell in his arms and told God, ''If you want me to preach, give Parnell back to us.'' In that instant Parnell opened his eyes, unharmed. From that moment on, Logan's life was dedicated to preaching God's word. Brother Logan served God in the ministry for 65 years, during which he served as a missionary starting and building churches in the area, as well as pastoring many local churches. The majority of his ministry was spent as Pastor of Bethany Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Onia. He loved his church very much. Not only did he serve as Pastor, he filled in anywhere he could be used. He loved the Lord and did his best to serve him in all that he did. He was a devoted husband, father, and papa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He taught his family the most important thing in life is to accept Jesus as your savior and love him with all your heart, knowing that if you do, you will have life eternal in Heaven. He always got excited talking about Heaven and was anxious to experience it. One of his favorite songs was Won't We Have A Good Time Up In Heaven, which is exactly what this Great Servant of God is now doing; he is enjoying the glories of Heaven, in the presence of his Savior.

Visitation will be Wednesday January 24 from 6-8 at Roller Coffman Funeral Home in Mtn. View, Arkansas. Funeral will be Thursday, January 25 at 2 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church in Onia. Brothers Jr. Barham and Gary Ragland will officiate the service, with Brother Cleophas Ramsey speaking and offering prayer. Brother Logan loved to hear Brother Cleophas pray; he always said he has the gift of prayer. Interment will be at Pordue Cemetery in Onia.

Pallbearers are: Shane McElroy, Cleophas Ramsey, Darrell Lawrence, Ronnie Garman, Keith Johnson, Reuben Balentine, and Rodney Tilley. Honorary pallbearers are the deacons of Bethany Church, including the original ''deacons bench'' who served under his ministry; his grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Logan Lawrence. A person that departs from this earth never truly leaves, for they are still alive in our hearts and minds, through us, they live on.

I considered Brother Logan as my pastor and I loved to hear him preach and will miss his good comments and opinions on the Bible. I know that he will be in a better place now but I know all we can do for him is to pray and give our love to his loved ones.

I'll always remember the first time I met Logan. I turned around in the car seat after being introduced to him and the first thing he said was "Are you a Christian?" I've thought about that many times. That was the most important thing to him. My prayers are with you all.
