of Marshall, AR
June 22, 1943 - January 26, 2017
Shirley Jean Cooper, age 73 of Marshall, Arkansas was graciously promoted to heaven on Thursday, January 26th, 2017 at Hospice of the Hills in Harrison, Arkansas. She was born in Malden, Missouri on June 22nd, 1943 to Tom Harris and Ruby Parson Harris.
Shirley was a wonderful woman of faith and was an avid believer in the power of forgiveness. She attended Marshall Assembly of God Church and Harriet Assembly of God Church. She worked as a hairdresser for several years and had her own beauty shop. Shirley was an amazing caregiver. Her home was always open for friends and family in need. She took in and cared for many children other than her own. She was always at the forefront of any battle, whether it involved her own children or ''adopted'' ones. Her pastimes involved reading and playing Scrabble. Shirley loved the holidays, especially Christmas and often made it an all day affair. She loved all of her family dearly, especially her ''Baby Doll'' grandchildren. Shirley fought the good fight, and in the opinion of her family she won. The devil had taken her mind, her sight, her speech, and her body. Yet, she still hung on until she had heard from all of her kids, her grandkids, and her husband. She had battled with Vascular Dementia for the past several years but will be remembered as the kind hearted woman who protected all children and took care of the older generation.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Gorman Cooper of the home; son, Tom Cooper and wife Jackie of Wesley, AR; two daughters, Tammy Flannery and husband Larry of Warrenton, MO and Tina Morrison and husband Mark of O'Fallon, MO; grandchildren, Alychia Cooper, Dustin (Allison) Humphrey, Pvt. Clinton Morrison, Cassa Morrison, Satori Maye Cooper, Vanyka Flannery, Ashley (Daylon) Owens, Hannah Gaines and Makenzie Gaines; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Humphrey and Addison Owens; and other family and friends who will also mourn her passing.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, an infant who died at birth and Jerry Harris; her mother-in-law, Maye Cooper and father-in-law, Fred Cooper.
Funeral services for Shirley will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 30th, 2017 at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Donnie Horton officiating. Special music will be performed by Whitney Sutterfield. Visitation will be 3:00 till 5:00 PM Sunday, January 29th, 2017 in the Chapel. Burial will be in Bear Creek Cemetery near Marshall. Pallbearers will be Shawn Horton, Brandon Horton, Glenn Swafford, Riley Cooper, Jimmy Kelley and Keith Benfield. At the family's request memorials may be made to Hospice of the Hills, PO Box 2020, Harrison, Arkansas, 72602 or Dementia Society of America: Vascular Dementia, PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA, 18901.
Gorman,
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
You honored her memory with such a beautiful obituary. For those of us who barely knew her it makes us wish we knew her better. Our thoughts and prayers are with the whole Cooper clan today and the days ahead. Remember where your strength comes from and know that He will provide peace to you. Love The Belk Bunch...Jennie, Johnathan, Hunter and Dyllan
Shirley will be missed greatly by her Creekside family . The Residents and staff pray that God blesses all her family and friends with His great peace and enduring strength during this time.

With deepest sympathy and may God bring you peace.
Gormon, please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time for you and the family.
Tom and family: Wishing you strength for today and hope for tomorrow. Prayers to everyone during this time. God be with you always!
My condolence to the family. I had the privilege of being a part of her care while she was in the hospital at the center for memory, mood, and thought. She certainly cared about her family, who were always on her mind. May God comfort you in this time.
