My heartfelt condolence to the family. Death was not God's purpose for us. The Bible tells us that the man Job lost all his children to the enemy death. Like you, Job asked God, "If a man dies can he live again?" (Job 14:14). Jesus answered Job's question at John 5: 28, 29 by telling us that our loving merciful God has promised to bring our dead loved ones back to life again. He demonstrated his ability to raise people from the dead when he brought back to life his friend, Lazarus. Yes, Lazarus was resurrected back to his “earthly” home. (John 11:11-14; Psalms 37:10,11) What a wonderful blessing from our heavenly Father We can our faith and trust in these words because we know that God does not lie. (Numbers 23:19)
