Irene (Suydan) Gawer, long time resident of Southwest Kansas, currently of Marshall, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, April 28th, 2015 in Harrison, Arkansas at the age of 90. She was born on August 27, 1924 in Marshall, Arkansas.
Irene farmed in Haskell County alongside her husband Emil Gawer and later owned and managed restaurants in Garden City and Lakin. She had an amazing green thumb and was an avid gardener. Irene also had the most spectacular Christmas ornament and light display in the area.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Jessie (Busbee) Suydan; husbands, Hubert Breit who was killed in action in WWII and Emil Gawer from 1949 to 1998; one son, Jim Gawer, who died in 2012; one granddaughter, Sheri (Dreiling) Cole, who died in 1997; brothers, Wesley Sterling of Garden City and Bill Busbee of St. Joe, AR; and son-in-law, Arlie (Bear) Ragland of Marshall.
Survivors include three daughters, Janis (Joe) Dreiling of Deerfield, KS, Regina Ragland of Marshall and Neva (Darrell) Schwatz of Congress, Arizona; one son, Dusty Gawer of Marshall; eleven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; sisters, May (Charles) Glenn of Marshall and Shirley Macomber of Alpena; brothers, James (Linda) Busbee, Johnny (Claudia) Busbee, Junior (Carol) Busbee and Alvin (Francie) Busbee, all of Marshall; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who will also mourn her passing.
There will be no visitation or viewing. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, May 4th, 2015 at Garnand Funeral Chapel, 412 N. 7th St, Garden City, Kansas. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, 2901 N. 3rd St, Garden City, Kansas. A memorial service will be held in Marshall, Arkansas at a later date.

Irene you was a big part of my life, I remember having you as a role model when I was 10 years old ,you was the prettiest girl in the world, I will miss you so much. prayers for the family. you will be missed so much
