Shirley Jean (Ward) Small, age 68, of Welcome Home, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord Saturday, November 01, 2014 at Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was born September 22, 1946 in Marshall to parents Dewey and Juanita (Parks) Ward.
Shirley was a member of the Welcome Home Church, where she enjoyed being involved in everything from vacation bible school, fellowship dinners, to Christmas plays.
Shirley considered herself a homemaker, but she was so much more. She was whatever you needed her to be. She was a talented seamstress, amazing chef, drywall finisher, painter, pianist, vocalist, interior designer, comedian, carpenter and an all around ''Mrs. Fix-it''. She was unmatched at bringing new life to old things. She enjoyed the challenge and felt pride as she watched its glory return. Shirley was a cleaning expert always wanting perfection in her home. Shirley loved her family with all of her heart and gave unselfishly every day. There are no words to truly describe this beautiful blue-eyed lady. She will be missed tremendously and cherished always.
Shirley is survived by her parents, husband of 48 years, Carroll Small; two children: Kelly (Nikki) Small and Kimberly (Andy) Treat; eight grandchildren: Ashely DaNae Horton, Alison LaNae Witt, Kevin Kelly Small, Carroll Weston Small, Quinci Alexis Millsaps, Lindsey Nicole Millsaps, Shelby Dian Treat, and Carley Faith Treat; three great-grandchildren: Kelli LaNae Farris, Judd Mason Horton, and Jase Taylor Witt; two sisters: Mary Beth (Bruce) Long, Gail (Roy) Ragland, all from Marshall and one brother: Jerry Ward from Hector, AR; and a whole host of family and friends who will miss her greatly.
Visitation for Shirley Jean Small will be 6:00 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at the Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, AR. The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at the Welcome Home Church with Bros. Roy Ragland and Brian Ragland officiating. Burial will follow in Chinquapin Cemetery near the Welcome Home community.
Pallbearers will be: Dennis Rizzo, Robert Oliver, Jeremy Ragland, Tim Small, Donald Ragland, and Mike Ragland. Honorary Pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
