James Edward Hankins, 93, of Jonesboro, passed away January 1, 2018 at the NEA Hospital. He was born October 30, 1924 in Jonesboro to Hubert and Elsie McEwen Hankins. He was the owner of Hankins Pest Control for 30 years. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church where he served a choir director, past commander of the American Legion, a member of the Masonic Lodge and proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Hankins loved to hunt and was a member of a gospel quartet.
Mr. Hankins is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen Matthews Hankins; one brother and three sisters.
Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Adams; two grandchildren, Mac (Laura) Golden of Little Rock and Gretchen Golden of Jonesboro; one great grandchild, Ellis Golden; and one sister, Blanch Alene Vincent of Poplar Bluff.
Graveside services will be 12:30 pm Friday at Philadelphia Cemetery in Jonesboro with Terry Kimbrough officiating.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 12 pm at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro.
