Joseph Clyde ''J.C.'', Grills was born September 14, 1920 at Larkin, Arkansas to Jefferson Edgar and Ollie Mae Nellie Hanks Grills. He departed this life June 25, 2017 in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 96 years, 9 months 11 days.

He was united in marriage to Glenna Allene Hargis on October 13, 1941. To this union two daughters were born. He was a member of Belview Baptist Church. He served in the Army Air Force in WWII where he was in the Philippine Islands as a lineman. He was a carpenter and loved to do wood work and build things for his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. He loved God, his family, his church and his country. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Ogilvie and Leta Jo Shrable both of Melbourne; seven grandchildren, Tim Shrable (Jessica), Vicki Vines (Ronnie) both of Violet Hill, AR., Leta Gay Byram, Michael Ogilvie (Cindy), Christy Haley (Eddie) all of Melbourne, Sonya Dockins of Mountain Home, Cindy Jo Lillard of Batesville, AR.; eleven great-grandchildren; Keeley Jo Massey, Zachary Dockins, Charlee Jo Byram, Shelbie Byram, Ashton Byram, Katlyn Shrable, Sydney Shrable, Sophie Shrable, Chelsea Wallace (Dalton), Nicole Vines, Drayson Gillihan; four Step-Great-Grandchildren, Abbey Orf (Marcus), Andrew Haley, Aleisha Faivre, Andria Ogilvie; five Step-Great-Great-Grandchildren, Hudson, Hadley, Alyssa, Alanna, and Aubrey; several nieces and nephews and many good friends.

Preceded in death by his wife of 72 years; his parents, Jeff and Ollie Grills; one sister; Vinnie Cooper; two brothers, Paul Grills and Homer Grills.

Pallbearers are Don Grills, Michael Ogilvie, Tim Shrable, Ronnie Vines, Eddie Haley, Zachary Dockins, and Drayson Gillihan. Honorary pallbearers will be Norris Grills, Donald Black, Bob Rector, David Miller, Doug Miller, Doc Warden, and Alan Sherell.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Roller-Crouch Chapel in Melbourne with Doyne Robertson and Jess Sumrall officiating. Burial will follow at Old Philadelphia Cemetery in Larkin, Arkansas.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the funeral home.

Dear family,
The Grills family in Indiana send our deepest sympathy on JC's passing. Most of the Grills girls have a cedar chest made by JC and we treasure them as family heirloms. His woodworking talents were exceptional. May God grant you peace and comfort in the days ahead.
